A Divine Orchestration
The first two chapters of Matthew are a beautiful revelation of how God fulfils His words and prophecies. God speaks things then guides us into the way we should go so that His divine will may be seen. The words God speaks are purely dependent on our trust in Him. We trust that what He said will be will be and by His Spirit He will lead us towards them.
In the books of the prophets in the old testament the children of Israel are promised a Messiah with details on how it will come about. When the time came for God’s promises to be fulfilled God guided Mary, Joseph and the magi through dreams and the inconveniencies that happened around them.
In the following passages of scripture God fulfills what He spoke through the prophets.
Matthew 1: 22; Isaiah 7:14
Matthew 1:5-6; Micah 5:2
Matthew 2:15; Hosea 11:1
Matthew 2:17; Jeremiah 31:15
Matthew 2:23; No reference
In these passages of scripture God divinely orchestrates the travels of Mary and Joseph through a census and looking for refuge; He also guides the magi through following a star.
Matthew 2:13; Hosea 11:1
When God speaks it is His to orchestrate and fulfil, ours is to trust His word and the leading of His Spirit.
