The Socks on my Chest
art and word piece by Lithakazi Mkombe

Nurture, love, growth and the cycles of a woman’s body. To paraphrase Beth Moore: “Mary must have taken every piece of her puzzle; the good, the ugly, the fear and the mystery as she made sense of the picture of bringing our Messiah to the world. ” A beautiful illustration of how in life we are faced with all sorts of situations but through that blood and mess our promises are birthed.
I remembered sagging boobs – the socks on the chest and metaphorically wrote a piece about how boobs sag because they fed the future. Scarred and bound up, but very proud of every battle conquered that adds a beautiful piece to a life story and of generations to come.
