Be Led

Have you ever lived life unfulfilled; in a space where you feel you could be doing more with your life? Wondering what your purpose is and how to live in it? Today’s Teaching and devotional is about living a purposeful life.
"I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all." Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NIV)
It is about God opening doors for you and how to be at the right place at the right time. It teaches us how to allow ourselves to be led by God towards those doors. God has drawn out plans for each of our lives and unless we live by these plans we will never be fulfilled by anything we do. There is a way for us to get to those plans but it requires obedience and trust in God. Below are a few lessons from the Book of John where Jesus turned water into wine.
"His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever He tells you." John 2:5 (NIV)
For time and chance to work in our favour, for us to be at the right place at the right time we need to be obedient to God. We need to be set on obeying Him even when what He is doing in our lives has never been done before. We must remember that the miracle of water to wine was the first miracle Jesus performed. No one had known Him for miracles, neither did many people know Him to be the Messiah but they took a chance and obeyed Him when Mary, His mother, had instructed them to.
"Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim." John 2:7 (NIV)
They obeyed Him in what did not make sense at the moment. They needed wine yet Jesus, whom they received by faith, told them to pour water into stone jars for ceremonial cleansing. Cleansing was not what they needed at the moment but they obeyed in a moment of uncertainty. Often times we miss what God wants to do in our lives because of such moments – stone jar moments. They did not.
"Then He told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so, John 2:8 (NIV)
After they had filled the jars with water, they followed Jesus’ instruction to draw it out and take it to the master of the banquet. We need to remember that Jesus had not spoken over the water, that He had done nothing to prove to them that a miracle had been done but at His instruction they followed Him and to their surprise water had turned to wine. This is how we should live life, especially in these moments. We should trust and follow God even when it may seem to not make sense, or we may feel He is leading us toward a direction that we should not be headed if we want to go a certain path. We need to trust Him so we do not miss our miracles.
