Friend from God
The God of the universe, the One who sees all things and knows all things came not only to seek and save the lost but to be an ever guiding presence in our midst. Our frame is weak by nature because we are made of dust and vulnerable to weakness because we are born of sin therefore we are in constant need of help. Jesus after He conquered death left to be with the Father. He did not leave us to fend for ourselves like sheep among wolves but gave us the Holy Spirit who is a Friend to us from God.
“Jesus answered her, ‘if you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10 (NIV)
God in His goodness and awareness our vulnerabilities and struggles knows we need a guide and He promises to be that friend for us if we allow Him. He has seen the ends of the earth and knows what our future holds, He knows we do not know what even the next hour of our lives holds. When we need guidance He is available for us if we ask of Him
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13 (NIV)
And when life gets lonely and hard He never leaves our side.
“A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 (NIV)
“No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5 (NIV)
We need to rest assured that we have a Helper, a Guide, One who comforts and One who will never leave us alone. In good times and times of destruction He is our constant. He does not change. He cannot.
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4 (NIV)
“Even in the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You.” Psalm 139:12 (NIV)
He will carry us to the very end. He will stand in the gap for us to the Father. He will pray for us according to God’s will. He loves us.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.”
When life gets hard and when life is good know that we have been left a Friend who enjoys the joys and is not afraid of the mess. Be with God and let His Spirit be with you.
