His Train of Victory

Raising children is one of the most beautiful mysteries on earth; having to groom a young person to fit in well into society, helping them express the fullness of their uniqueness while they copy everything you do for survival. This may be an interesting and frustrating task for man to do but this is exactly what God wants of us, His children, and because He is God He delights in doing this. God wants us to obey all His commands, to follow all His teachings and to do as He did on earth.
“These are those who did not defile themselves with woman, for they kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb.” Revelations 14:4 (NIV)
As children of God we are expected to live a life of following God closely, a life of allowing His Spirit to lead us in everything we do. As we learnt in our previous devotional Pressed Fragrances about responding to God in worship it matters how we live our lives as people who lead worship in our respective spaces and today we look at being people who follow God closely.
What does following God closely mean
“Each one went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they went.” Ezekiel 1:12 (NIV)
We mimic Him in everything we do. We mimic the life that Jesus lived on earth.
If you must copy someone copy Christ. If you must mimic anything let it be the words of Christ. Everyone wants to be like something, like someone. Everyone is always looking for someone or something to look up to, this has been put by God in us and it can only be satisfied by Him. We need to remember that we are God’s design for His special purpose and no where else will we ever find contentment but from the hands of our Maker. We are called to mimic Him and He alone.
This means we
• Love
• Offer our lives to God
• Sacrifice ourselves to Him
• Flee from sin
• Have nothing to do with sinners
• Be good, righteous and have truth
• Do only what pleases God
