Hope For You
“The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly.”Isaiah 60:22 (NIV)
As the year came to a close last year (2021) I got the privilege to watch Disney’s Encanto movie. This is a fantastical movie about giftings and coming of age. Its set up is of a family that has been gifted with a supernatural candle that gives every child that comes of age in it a supernatural gift. This then defines who they are and their function within the family, within society.
As it goes on, unfortunately, one of the girls is not given a gift and has to live watching people thrive and enjoy their gifts. This means she lives in rejection and shame.
What happens in life when we feel we have been dealt a bad deal like this? When we feel everyone around us is thriving but us? When what is causing us not to thrive is nothing within our reach but what feels like an act of supernatural sabotage?
Unfortunately this is the story of many people around us, maybe this is your story too. You have worked hard, you have studied or applied for jobs. Maybe you could not even study for lack of finances. You do all that is within your power to succeed, you do more than what you have seen bring success to others but still it yields no result. God has an answer for us when we do not know, when we do not when where to turn. He is God who loves us and treats us with so much kindness. It is never in His heart to let us toil and yield no result. He is a generous God. He has a plan for you and me, and wants us to hold on to hope at these painful moments.
The movie does not end like this though, eventually in her adulthood she uses what is within her to save her dying society. I am not not saying this is what will happen to you, no. God forbid society dies. However, she is what was needed at a very crucial time in the history of her family. What was needed was always within her but it had not manifested yet. It had an appointed time.
This is how God works too, or rather they mimicked God’s ways. Sometimes what we need is within reach but God is waiting for its appointed time to cause it to manifest. God made all of us for a specific purpose that fits His will and for your life to be perfect, for my life to be perfect all things have to be done according to God’s will. You are right on track. You have missed nothing. What you believe has slipped through your fingers God is able to bring back to you if you ask Him to.
“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten – the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm – my great army that I sent among you.”Joel 2:25 (NIV)
Do not let discouragement and disappointment have the better of you. Trust in God and live in hope. He knows what He is doing and your time will come. Keep working, you do not know when your breakthrough will come but let it find you working. At God’s time you will see His beautiful doors open.
Waiting your turn is painful but you can use it as an opportunity to grow if you learn to wait well. God does not forget about us, He instead prepares us for our turn and requires us to trust Him as we wait. May you find grace as you wait your turn in God. Have hope.
