Led Into Uncertainty
"There are three things which are too wonderful for me, Yes, four which I do not understand: The way of an eagle in the air, The way of a serpent on a rock, The way of a ship in the midst of a sea, and the way of a man with a virgin." Proverbs 30:18-19 (NKJV)
“Even though we do not know where we are going, the end will be beautiful.” my daughter said these words as we prayed. We are born into a world of many possibilities with a God who has placed us within His story. He has plans for us and vision for life. We have purpose and assignments given to us by God and part of that package is that we get to be well taken care of, needing nothing of value – whether emotional, materialistic or spiritual. For us to thrive in these, therefore life, we need to accept the invitation to be led by Christ. Jesus is our Shepherd if we allow ourselves to be led by Him.
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want." Psalm 23:1 (NIV)
Jesus leads us to His pasture. A pasture is a vast land that has no navigation, with little or no benchmarks – as most benchmarks are manmade. This means that being led by Christ in His pasture will require a lot of faith from us. He may lead us into a place where we might not see His hand; a place of uncertainty and confusion. A place where when you started the journey you saw His hand but you start doubting His presence of the path you are taking because of challenges on the way or not knowing what happens next. Our opening scripture shared about the mystery of the navigation of life through places of unknowing. A navigation that can only be by wisdom – by God. It is the sky for the bird that flies, the ocean for the ship that sails and a pasture for a child submitted to Christ. This places can be overwhelming, disappointing or scary but if God led you to a space rest in Him. Uncertainty does not mean He is not with you, it only means you should trust Him more. He is our Shepherd and He did not liken His leading to a city but a pasture because He knew there would be times of uncertainty, times that require giant faith. Trust God. He is love and leads you in such.
"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing." Matthew 6:25 (NKJV)
If you are in such a moment, trust God. Do not worry. He knows your needs and has provided for them even before you knew about them. When you follow Him, even when you do not know you can rest that things will be taken care of by Him. He feeds the birds, He clothes the flowers and you who is of value to God, He will never forsake.
We have seen God father us. We have seen His love. Today He wants us to trust in His power. Out of His love He desires to give to us and with His power He will provide for us. Everything. He wants to and He is able. Do not worry about what you are seeing or what you are not, God has the power to turn water into wine in an instant. He wants to and is able. Birds fly and reach their destination; ships sail and reach their destination. A man gets a woman to marry him. A snake finds its way through rocks. God is not asking you to find your way through a pasture of uncertainty, He is asking you to let Him do that for you. Trust His love and His power. He is able.
