Living in Love

“Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Saviour.” Ephesians 5:22-23 (NIV)
We, the church, are Christ’s bride and Christ wants to make us radiant, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but Holy and blameless. He wants to present us before the Father perfect on His glorious day.
We are the body of Christ and Christ is holy, and because He is we too become. God models Ephesians 5 well where He says no one ever hated his own body. No one has and this is how Christ continues to love us as His body, He died on the cross to cleanse us – we died with Him and rose with Him and now we have been made pure.
“to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,” Ephesians 5:26 (NIV)
This means we have been cleansed by God, first; that all the love we will ever desire is found in God and lastly, that all that we will ever need we will find in Him. He is our groom – a provider, our Head who leads us into every type of goodness. He calls Himself the True Vine in which we live for we are His branches. We find our nutrition in Him and without Him we cannot bear any fruit. We are one with Him and if we ever need we should ask Him, giving to us is to our Father’s glory.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit- fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” John 15:16 (NIV)
Therefore as the bride of Christ we must live submitted to Him, respecting everything about Him and following Him in love.
“However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:33 (NIV)
