Made in God’s Image
It is so easy to believe the lies that are always said around us in the world that we live in. People around us are broken and a broken person’s default is to break the people around them. It would be easier to just ask everyone to be kind but because of the nature of world and the devil who is ever roaming around seeking whom he may devour that is close to impossible. Our best bet is to focus on ourselves and block out the negative voices around us.
We need to develop a healthy self image and this can be done by feeding on the only truth on earth which is the word of God. The bible is not just beautiful words that tell us about God and make us feel special for a while. The bible is inspired of the Holy Spirit and therefore carries power to transform our lives by changing the way we think about the world around us and ourselves. We need to read it prayerfully (asking God to help us receive the words written in it). We need to read it aloud (so that the first and last thing we hear about ourselves is what God says.)
So, what does God say about us? He says we are special and loved. He says He sees us and knows everything about us. He knows when we hurt and is always ready to heal our hearts.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV)
God made a lot of valuable things. He made things so precious we could study for years on end and still be captivated by their wonder yet in all these things He chose us to be His own. He chose us to carry His image.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.” Psalm 8:3-5 (NIV)
We are special to God. Precious possessions are stored away in places of safety where exclusive access is only granted by the keeper. God is our keeper, He keeps us in places where nothing can touch us. We are safe when we stay in God.
“Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.” Psalm 17:8 (NIV)
“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1 (NIV)
Rest in God and enjoy what He says about you.
