Possess

"So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor." Joshua 10:7 (NKJV)
God has given us so many promises that He is fulfilling in this season. The things God has for us are ours for the taking. They sometimes may require work, faith and a fight to grab a hold of. This does not mean they are not ours but that whatever fight we have to engage in to get them we must because we will win. God has already given them into our hands.
Joshua was given the promised land by God through Moses. God called Moses to deliver his children out of Egypt into the land God had given them. Without courage Moses would have never approached Pharoah to let God’s people go. Throughout the journey through the desert in pursuit of God’s promise to the Israelites God required them to have faith – trust His word and do whatever He instructed them. God did not fail them in any capacity. When the time came for Joshua to take over from Moses after his death and lead the Isrealites into the promised land God instructed Him to hold on to courage, strength and obedience. They had to fight. They had to obey God even when they felt the odds were against them. They always won.
From the scripture above we learn that Joshua’s army was nothing short of everyday men and a few men of valor. This means his army was not made of men of war. Let us look at the passage in the New International Version.
"So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men." Joshua 10:7 (NIV)
You may feel like you are not prepared for task God has laid before you. You may also feel like it is not the perfect season for you to take hold of the promises of God for your life but remember Joshua. Joshua led the Isrealites to take possession of all the land God had given them with everyday men and a few fighting men. They went against armies who joined forces made of mighty men of valour but God proved Himself strong. He did not fail them. When they responded to Him in faith He fought on their behalf and won.
This is the time we possess what God has for us. It is a season of enlarging, growing and possessing. Let us not allow the devil to scare us, to intimidate us. Let us, in faith, go after everything that is laid in our hearts and let us do this God’s way. He is faithful to deliver. We should not look at what is in our hands but rather at the faithfulness of our God and we will see Him come through for us.
Then we must, like Joshua’s army, be willing and we will conquer nations because the hand of the Lord is upon us. Have faith, stand strong and pursue, God has given. Be blessed.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
