Psalm 139 Intimately Known

“You hem me in – behind and before; You have laid Your hand on me.” Psalm 139:5 (NIV)
God hides us in His love, under His wings and nothing can come near us. When we are faced by the attacks of the devil or when our way is covered with stumbling blocks we walk in confidence because we walk with the King of kings who prepares the way for us. He levels the rugged places.
“Fire goes before Him and consumes His foes on every side.” Psalm 97:3 (NIV)
“Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.” Isaiah 40:4 (NIV)
And that is why we rest in His presence. His presence hems us in, it goes ahead of us preparing our way and dwells with us eternally.
“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the Heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.” Psalm 139:7-8 (NIV)
God is always here. He is our help in need and trouble. He is our comforter and wisdom. We need to rest in His love, rest in His presence and rest in His wisdom.
“When you are brought before synagogues, rulers and authorities, do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.” Luke 12:11-12 (NIV)
We need to remain confident in this, that no matter what it is that lies ahead of us God will hide us and consume it.
