Psalm 23 Part 1
1. The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want
El Rohe who is God who shepherds me, one who sees and knows what I need before I know it is my guide. My God guides me because He is Jireh so He knows where my supply is. He provides for me whatever I need both spiritually and physically.
“But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your forefathers, as it is today.” Deuteronomy 8:18 (NIV)
2. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. 3. He restores my soul.
He fills my life with joy and peace. He is the source of my serenity. Life will never wear me down because God leads me to places of refreshing and restoration. When the enemy comes against me and attempts to destroy my life, God gives me grace and puts back the pieces of my life together.
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)
He leads me in paths of righteousness for His namesake
When I lack He is my guide that leads me in places that do not forsake who He is. He leads me in places that do not deny His holiness so that His truth may remain awesome throughout all generations.
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone.” Ezekiel 36:22 (NIV)
4. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil
When life throws me a curve ball and the unexpected happens I remain steadfast in His love. Darkness is as light to God. He gives me courage and wards off the enemy that seeks to devour me.
“This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 3:5 (NIV)
“Even darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.” Psalm 139:12 (NIV)
