Psalm 23 Part 2

4. For You are with me
God’s presence is power, miraculous fortitude and wisdom. Power to stand in the midst of adversity, miraculous fortitude for He causes me to be resilient in times of trouble giving me victory in every circumstance and wisdom because His Spirit within me is my guide.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me
God’s words and laws are a rod and staff. They guide me into the best pathway for my life and minister to my heart when I need solace.
“The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” Psalm 19:7 (NIV)
5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies
To face giants is not to be outside of God’s will and presence. His deliverance, vindication and supernatural provision is made known or seen right in the midst of adversity. For He has no limits. His power is enough to provide for me in the midst of turmoil and strong enough to barricade the road that leads the enemy towards me.
“They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals devour them. They will live in safety, and no one will make them afraid.” Ezekiel 34:28 (NIV)
You anoint my heard with oil, my cup overflows
God prepares me for life. He knows life will not be easy so He equips me to be able to stand amidst all of it. He prepares me for my vocation, struggles and blessings. He strengthens me to be strong for myself and those entrusted to me by Him.
“And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth…” John 14:15 (NIV)
6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
Who God is to me today is who He will be to me forever. He cannot change and will never deny Himself. He is a faithful God.
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 (NIV)
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever
God’s presence is forever available for me. He strengthens my feeble knees and does not allow my foot to slip therefore I will not backslide. His presence within me teaches me to be to stay on His side and I can rest assured that I will always be taken care of by God.
“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)
