Shield of Faith

Once God heals us from our shame we can be certain that the devil will not leave us alone. His job he’ll finish when the Lord Jesus returns. If we are not on his grip, he pursues us and when we’ve been set free from it, he finds creative ways to draw us back to himself. God calls us to be strong in our freedom, to stand our ground. To forever be on gaurd so that we do not fall prey to the traps of the devil.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take a stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the Heavenly realms.”
God however has defeated the devil for us and invites us to walk in His victory through these basic principles.
• Living according to the Word of God
“Therefore, put on the complete armor of God, so that you will be able to [successfully] resist and stand your ground in the evil day [of danger], and having done everything [that the crisis demands], to stand firm [in your place, fully prepared, immovable, victorious]. So stand firm and hold your ground, having tightened the wide band of truth (personal integrity, moral courage) around your waist and having put on the breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart), and having strapped on your feet the gospel of peace in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-footed stability and the readiness produced by the good news]. Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one . And take the helmet of salvation , and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.” phesians 6:13-18 (AMP)
• Surrounding yourself with like minded believers
“Join with others in following my example, brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.” Philippians 3:17 (NIV)
In these ways we are able to stand against the schemes of the devil. We are able to live a life of glory. Let us do all in our power to live a life of freedom. A life endowed by the fruit of the Holy Spirit and we can trust God to do what we cannot do. He has conquered for us and ours is to walk in His victory.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV)
