Supernatural Faith | Unchanging God
God’s glory will be seen, whether we choose to be His objects of love or objects of discipline. One of the greatest miracles in the bible is that of the Israelites’ deliverance by God in the desert. (Genesis 13:17-22 & 14:1-31) In this passage of scripture God delivers the Israelites and sends His vengeance to the Egyptians. God’s glory is seen through His saving power and justice. The Old Testament is covered with such miracles.
“And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord. So the Israelites did this.” Exodus 14:4 (NIV)
“During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion.” Exodus 14:24 (NIV)
God delivered the Egyptian army that was mightier than the Israelites into the hands of the Israelites. God performed a supernatural miracle.
God remains the same. The God who performed these miracles in the Old Testament is the same God who came on earth in the body of Jesus Christ and still performed great things. In the New Testament we still see evidence of God at work through Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. The lame walked, the blind saw, the possessed were set free and the greatest miracle of all time – the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)” John 20:8-9 (NIV)
Today God works through us in the Person of the Holy Spirit who fills us up and gives us the ability to perform miracles – doing things greater than those done by Jesus. We must hold on to God and have courage to step out in faith. All God requires of us is a little bit of faith and He will do the work.
“For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:5 (NIV)
“He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 (NIV)
We need to trust in God at all times. Have faith in Him and His ability to change every situation and do the impossible. God who lives in us is the same who created the universe.
