The Gospel Story | Finding Hope
Hope – the anticipation of things from God, is a gift of God that we receive through salvation. Salvation not only brought atonement for sins but came to give us hope in the Father. Hope that the trials of this passing age will not consume us. Hope that we will see God’s goodness in the land of the living. Hope that God will restore and heal every part of us. Hope that He will give to us all that we require for life.
We access God’s throne of grace and everything He has for us through prayer. The bible says God has a will and purpose for each individual, that the steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord. To access these promises God left us His Spirit of Holiness to help us in prayer so that we do not pray in vain. God’s Spirit knows the heart and mind of God and therefore helps us to pray in accordance with that.
“For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:11;16 (NIV)
And while we wait on God we have hope that God whom we trust will deliver us and provide all that we need for life. We hold on to His promises and serve Him wholeheartedly because we know that He is faithful. He will give us the grace we need while we wait. Our times are in His hands and as we wait for Him He will carry us.
“For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just we are – yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:15-16 (NIV)
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intereceds for the saints in accordance with God’s will.” Romans 8:26-27 (NIV)
The story of the cross is the story of hope. Hope for the lost and hope for the saved. Find hope in God.
