The Gospel Story | His Pen of Love
In the first chapters of the book of Genesis we can see that God enjoyed relationship with mankind. He created all things for His pleasure.
“The man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees in the garden.” Genesis 3:8 (NIV)
We also know that God created us for the display of His glory. For us to live in obedience to Him; to live a life worship.
When man fell due to disobedience to God – sin; man and God were separated. A sacrifice had to be made for the atonement of that sin but no one was found worthy for God required one who was blameless to atone for it.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (NIV)
God is three in one. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Greater than believing there is a God in Heaven who formed all things is believing that that same God sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for that sin as a display of His love and justice.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NIV)
On the third day He rose again, ascended into Heaven and welcomes us back into His love if we will believe in Him.
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)
We are God’s people, the sheep of His pasture and His longing is to bring us back to His pen so that He can tend to us and this is the love of God displayed for us.
“Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.” Psalm 100:3 (NIV)
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)
