Truth that Heals

“Love is beautiful, He is kind; patient and eager to embrace us. Covered in truth – truth that heals, offers hope and holds us together.”
Our hearts are always covered in ailments because of the nature of the place that we are bound in. The world today is more evil than it has ever been and it is up to us to choose to be influenced by it or to be of influence to it. Sin, like God says in the book of Romans is the cause of this death – both spiritual and physical. It is the cause of why things are the way they are. Our eyes are covered in scales and therefore blinded to the truth of God.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (NIV)
God made us in His beautiful image and He deposited His attributes within us. He made us whole but sin broke us. We are able to feel because God feels. When He sees us desperate in need of life and healing His heart is grieved. When He sees us destroy ourselves in our own ways His heart breaks. It was because of this love and compassion that He sent Jesus. Jesus is the only solution to all things and it is inevitable that our healing comes from He alone. Jesus came to restore our health, to restore our character, to restore our souls and every part of our lives to God’s intended purpose.
“‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 30:17 (NIV)
“Surely He took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered Him stricken by God, smitten by Him, and afflicted.” Isaiah 53:4-5 (NIV)
When the Israelites in the mountain Hor were dying of snake bites because of God’s judgement towards them, by His compassion He made provision for their healing. God is God who still provides for us. He provided His Son, Jesus, to be the sacrifice for all sin so that we would find thorough healing from Him – the healing of our souls and the healing of our bodies. Today we still look to the cross for our freedom. We look to the cross to find relief in times of hardship and we look to the cross for our eternal salvation. The power of the cross is what restores us daily by uprooting the vices of sin and giving us a heart of love like His.
The cross of Jesus removed the things that taint our spirits, and paves a way for Jesus to work His virtues within us.
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not let discouragement leave you feeling you will never be all that God has intended you to be but remember God’s promise of thorough restoration and ask Him, by the power of His Spirit to work out within you a character like His.
