Water and Fire

“We will receive the great things that we have been promised. They are being kept safe in Heaven for us. They are pure and will not pass away. They will never be lost.” 1 Peter 1:4 (NLV)
No one can stop what God is doing in our lives but us. When God speaks something into and over us His words are certain, they cannot be stopped or changed. They are fulfilled by the faith in our hearts and our willingness to obey God.
When God, by His word, led Elijah out of his land into the Kerith Ravine and gave him a promise that had never been done before or heard by the ears of man, he did not hesitate to obey God. He did not worry about how this promise would come about but trusted in God and his leading. This was his success.
“Then he did what the LORD had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.” 1 Kings 17:5-6 (NIV)
The devil does not have the authority to stop what God is doing and what He has promised. Our gifts belong to God and they were never the devil’s to give to begin with. So, we will rest when under attack – in God and we will use the weapons of our warfare which are not canal. What stops us from receiving is unbelief or allowing circumstances to dictate our outcome.
If God said it, ours is to fight in the spirit through faith and fight in the physical through obedience. Nothing will stop us. If we follow God and His Spirit we will be His success stories.
Elijah was successful in the midst of adversity because he had faith in God and obeyed God. Every word God sent to Elijah he obeyed and did all that God had said. He lived on earth, performed miracles, slayed the prophets of Baal and turned the hearts of man to God until the time God took him to Heaven by a whirlwind – the end of his days on earth.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
